Rare English Gentleman’s Cut Glass & Sterling Silver Dressing Table Case 1838 A superb and rare example of a large Early Victorian English Gentleman’s Cut Glass & Sterling Silver Dressing Table Case. Handmade in London during the reign of Queen Victoria. To the top we see a superb pierced scrolled effect to the centre running down to a superb six tier border, leading onto a very heavy cut glass case to the underneath we see a superb star bright design. These are becoming almost impossible to find on the market place as most of the centuries would have been broken, this one is in near mint condition, the glass has No flea biting and the silver has no holes or tears. To the inside a superb set of silver hallmarks first we see a cameo portrait of early Queen Victoria, Lion for purity of .925 Solid Silver, leopard for made in London, date letter c for 1838 and the all important makers hallmark TD for Thomas Diller who produced his silver from 1841-1847 and had his retail outlets in Clerkenwell and Hatton Gardens, London, England. Nice period English collectable item. Condition, slight surface ware, but mint condition. Size 90mm length, 40mm width, 37m height.

An Extremely Rare Large and Heavy Cased Apostle toped Victorian Antique Sugar Sifter and matching Cake Server. I have been dealing in Silver in 25 years and have never come across one in this mint condition before (Never been used). The sifter and cake server both have the Apostle St James to the top of the handle. They both have superb detailing with a twist effect stem which led down to two figures and two gargoyle faces. The figures are King Herod holding James’s decapitated head to the back we see St James with a Staff on a Pilgrimage, these designs are not embossed, handmade of solid sterling Silver. The cake server has a stunning hand applied thorna design to the front, to the back a smooth plain finish. The sifter has a cut out thorna & flower design to match the cake server. Hallmark: Both are matching Queen Victoria’s side cameo portrait, lion for .925 Sterling Siler, date letter p for 1870, leopard for made in London and finally makers mark TS for Thomas Smily who produced his silver from 1858-1880. The case is brown leatherette with a gold trim, to the inside base is dark green velvet and top is a lighter green silk cushion. Once again you are bidding on the condition of this piece (Cannot be beaten). For the investor or collector of fine Victorian Silverware. About apostle St James
St James was beheaded by order of King Herod Agrippa I, grandson of Herod the Great (who tried to kill the infant Jesus), nephew of Herod Antipas (who killed John the Baptist and examined Jesus on Good Friday, and father of Herod Agrippa II , James was the first of the Twelve to suffer martyrdom, and the only one of the Twelve whose death is recorded in the New Testament.

Superb Victorian 1900 Antique Sterling Silver Cased Salt Set with Matching Spoons. Very delightful cased set of two salts and salt spoons with original case. The set was made in Sheffield in 1900 by The Fenton Brothers who produced their silver from 1896-1934 from South Moor Works, Earl Street, Sheffield. A very nice high quality silver finish, to the outside of each salt has a very pretty beaded border around the outer rim, which carries through to the edge of each spoon, each salt sits upon three hoofed feet. The box is the original leatherette with gold trim to the outside, the inside has a plum velvet base and a plum silk lining to the top. Hallmarks are as follows: date letter h for 1900, crown for made in Sheffield, lion for .925 Purity of Sterling Silver and makers mark F.BS Ltd. Condition: The set is in a mint condition, the outer edge of the box is perfect will a fully working catch to release button. The lid that attaches to the base has come away to the rear, easily repaired as it was never hinged as it was originally bound. Becoming hard to find these full matching salt sets. Antique Victorian Cased Set of Four Salts and Spoons by Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall. A great opportunity to obtain a rare cased set of four Sterling Silver salts with four sterling silver salt spoons, every item within the case have matching date and makers marks. Becoming very hard to find on the market place a complete case set intact. Each salt has a very nice outer beaded edge, to the centre each salt is adorned with a flower and forna design and having the bonus of having a blank cartouche (ie un-personalised). They all sit upon three large cast and applied hoofed feet, the spoons carry the same outer edge beading again with blank cartouche, they all sit within a brown leatherette case with gold trim, to the inside a Purple velvet bottom and to the top a purple velvet silk lining. The hallmarks are as follows: Date letter d for 1871, lion for .925 purity of Sterling Silver, Queen Victoria’s side Cameo portrait, Crown for handmade in Sheffield, makers mark, RMEH for Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall. Condition: In close to mint condition, the box closers tight. Nice period item produced by respectable English Silversmith Makers of the time. Size: Box at widest 155mm x 215mm x 48mm. Large Queen Victorian Solid Silver Sugar Bowl by John Henry Potter A very beautiful large and heavy highly decorative sugar bowl made during the reign of Queen Victoria, the piece as you can see is adorned with flower and forna to both sides of the bowl, a blank cartouche (ie non personalised) to both sides with two large cast and applied solid silver handles. Becoming hard to find in this pattern of decoration. Hallmarks are as follows: JHP for John Henry Potter who produced his silver from 1885-1936, Rockingham Works, Sheffield, England. Date letter Z for 1892. Lion for .925 purity of Solid Silver, Crown for handcrafted in Sheffield. Nice period collectable item, made in the most famous Silversmith Town, Sheffield.
