Very Rare pair of Antique George III Master Open Salts made by Thomas Blagden & Co An incredible matching pair of matching master salts made during the reign of King George III. These I am pretty sure are as big as they come in salts. They have the original gold gilding remaining to the insides, they are elongated in shape with a stunning and very ornate Georgian chased edge style pattern running around the entire rim of each salt, in the line of sight they have a beautiful arc shape rim. A very large and generous bowl, each salt sits upon four pearl feet. They were made in 1810 by the prolific silversmith maker Thomas Blagden & Co of Bond Street, London, England who produced their silver form 1810 – 1832, hallmarks are rubbed but still visible. Thomas Blagden specialised in Chamber stick, creamer, mugs, Salt, teapots and toast racks. A very collectable and highly desirable pair of King George III open salts nice period items. Hallmarks: Date letter Crowned L for 1810, side cameo portrait of King George III, lion for .925 purity of Sterling Silver and Leopard for made in London. Condition: They are close to mint, the pearl ball feet has some dentations, but cannot be seen when displayed and one has a hairline crack to one ball. This does not effect the overall beauty of these very rare salts. Each salt is 100mm long, 70mm wide, 33mm high. Overall weight: 125 gms

Rare George III 1801 Antique Solid Silver Large Mustard Pot by Henry Nutting. A very rare George III Solid Silver Antique Mustard Pot by prolific Silversmith Maker Henry Nutting. The mustard pot is of the large variety, oval in appearance finger nib opening to a large solid drum The pot is hallmarked in two places for to the inside of the lid with the lion passant stamp, to the base a full set of hallmarks which are as follows, lion for .925 purity of solid silver, crowned leopard for made in London, date letter F for 1801, makers mark HN for Henry Nutting who produced his silver from 1795-1803, Bond Street and Hatton Gardens. Condition: The lid hinge is slightly loose, a very old repair done in early 1800’s to the handle, some minor marks but does not effect the overall beauty of this very rare maker. I have taken the condition as in good and have priced accordingly. Very rare period piece by this superb Silversmith maker of the time. Size: 105mm long, 55mm wide and 65mm high. Weight: 130 gms

George III Sterling Silver Antique 1786 Large Salt Dish by Thomas Shepherd A very nice example of a large Sterling Silver Antique Salt Dish from the reign of King George III, 1786. The salt dish is of an oval shape, beaded outer rim, plain design bowl and stands upon four large cast and applied sterling hoofed feet. Monogrammed to one side, hallmarks are as follows: TS for Thomas Shepherd who produced his silver form 1770-1886, from Covent Garden London George III Side cameo, crowed leopard for made in London, Date letter L for 1786. Lion for .925 purity of Solid Silver. Becoming hard to find in this superb oval and large design, sizes: 95mm width, 75mm depth, 50mm high. Weight: 90 gms. Nice English period piece.

Rare 1789 Antique Sterling Silver Serving Berry Spoon by Thomas Wallis II Rare opportunity to own a Solid Silver Berry Serving spoon by prolific Silversmith Maker Thomas Wallis II, The piece as you can see from the photos still retain some of it’s original gold gilt to the bowl, which covers a beautiful pictorial display of embossed fruits, the handle has a super and highly decorative pattern running to a blank cartouche free, from any monograms. The hallmarks are as follows: T W for Thomas Wallis II who produced his silver from 1786-1809, lion for .925 purity of solid silver, crown leopard for handcrafted in London, date letter o for 1789 and side cameo portrait of King George II . Becoming harder and harder to find on the market place today, especially dating this early each spoon is monogrammed EIS, obviously commissioned for a wealthy Georgian family of the time. The hallmarks are as follows: PB & AB for Peter and Anne Bateman, King George Third Side cameo portrait, date letter B for 1797 and lion for .925 purity of solid silver. Condition: there are a few bruises to each of the bowls of the spoons still in ok condition. Hester Bateman George III Sterling Silver rare Antique Pair of Desert Spoons 1778. Hester Bateman George III Sterling Silver rare Antique Pair of Desert Spoons 1778. As you can see from the photos a good example of the most famous Woman Silversmith maker of the Georgian Era Hester Bateman. (see below about her) The spoons are in good condition one has light surface marks the other has a couple of small dimples to the bowl but nothing serious. Each spoon is monogrammed with the letter S, to the reverse there is the date letter c for 1778, one can just make out the Hester Bateman initials, one very clear one partially clear, but you can still make out here initials. Leopard and lion worn, these pair were made in London England in the late 1700’s. For the serious collector of rare English Silver or maybe a present for someone special Size: 180mm length each spoon. The combined weight for both spoons is 70 gms.
About Hester Bateman
Hester Bateman, the most famous of all women silversmiths, registered her first mark with the London Goldsmiths Company on the 16 April 1761 at the age of fifty two. She was widowed by John Bateman in 1760 and took over his metalwork business transforming it into one of the most successful silversmith workshops. Located in Bunhill Row, London , England. with her sons John, Peter and Jonathan and later her daughter-in-law Ann married to Jonathan, their son William and grandson William II became highly skilled silversmiths working at the Bateman workshop, producing some of the best silver pieces of their generation.
