Extremely rare Solid Silver Antique George II Sugar Nips, London This item is for the serious Antique collector of fine English Georgian Silverware. An outstanding and very rare pair of Scissor Sugar Nips. Handmade in London England during the reign of King George II. The sugar nips as you can see from the photos are quite breathtaking. Starting from the top the finger grips are of an oval shape leading down to a very decorative steam to the centre pivot. From there leading down onto the steams again very decorative leading to the two gripers which are in a wonderful shell design. The piece is double hallmarked with the Makers Mark IG for John Gorham and the Lion Passant Mark. There is no date letter we can tell by the Lion facing outwards and the scorpion like large thick tail, and also by the maker that this is dated from between 1728-1738. Which dates this piece in the reign of King George II. These are extremely collectable and very desirable, one only has to surf the internet and see the prices for which these are being sold for between £375-£675.00 depending on Maker and Condition.
