Rare Philip and Mary Groat Solid Silver Coin reigned 1554-58 Quite worn, but flat, uncreased, and not much clipping.
Philip and Mary Groat Solid Silver Coin reigned 1554-58 Quite worn, but flat, uncreased, and not much clipping. This one reads Philip z Maria unlike the one shown in Spinks 2005 catalogue (which reads Philip et Maria). Still some Queen Mary I portrait remaining to the reveries Royal Tudor Coat of Arms and Latin Cross. This is always the one that is missing from the collection of a collector the icing on the cake as they say. Mary was Born 1616 at Greenwich Palace Father was Henry VIII and mother Catharine of Aragon, Married Phillip of Spain 1556, she died 17th November 1558 and was buried in Westminster Abbey, she was the most infamous of all Monarchs she would be remembered throughout history as Bloody Mary for burning at the stake 300 protestant martyrs .Size 23.5mm
